Chatrapati Rajashri Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur, the son of Late Karveer Hutamata Chatrapati Chauthe Shivaji Maharaj, was a source of inspiration to the institution which was established in 1918.

The institution runs 7 Senior Colleges, one Engineering College, one Law College, one college of Physical Education, one Hotel Management Institute, 20 Junior Colleges, 45 High-Schools and one Primary School. The main object of the institution is to impart education to the economically backward, downtrodden and weaker sections of the society irrespective of the caste, creed, sex and religion. The growth of the institution during the past 90 years is noteworthy with its motto “Tejo Si Tejo Me Dehi”. New Arts, Commerce and Science College, Shevgaon is situated in a village about 65 kms away from Ahmednagar, 90 kms from Aurangabad and 200 kms from Pune. The college is a multifaculty college with many programmes at the under graduate and the post graduate levels. The college is affiliated to the University of Pune. The range of the programmes, options available to the students are B.A., B.Com., B.Sc.(Gen.) Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Mathematics),B.Sc. Computer Science, B.B.A. (CA), M.A. (Marathi, History, Hindi, Geography), M.Sc. [Chemistry (Ana. and Org.), Physics] degrees, Certificate Course in Computer and Functional English. The college got recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) under 2F in 1991 and 12B in 1997.

            The college has campus admeasuring twelve acres with specious buildings containing adequate facilities. The college also provides residential facilities to the students. In addition to this, the college runs courses in arts, commerce and science faculty at junior (+2) level which are aided by the State Government of Maharashtra.

              Besides this the college also runs courses like Horticulture, Office Management and Medical Laboratory Technician Course under minimum competency vocational course pattern and the same are aided by the Central Government of India. It is a matter of great pride that the institution provided higher education to the rural students in the past when there was no college in ShevgaonTahasil. The college started with 83 students in 1978 and at present the total enrollment is 1064 at senior college level and 898 at the junior college level.

             The main object of the college is to make all-round development of students and make them responsible citizens to lead our country to the globalised world with dignity and honour.
